-WEEK 2 REVIEW-
This week, I have...
- Completed an artist research page on Joseph Cornell in my sketchbook and then on my blog in further detail. In my sketchbook I was able to create borders and use cardboard to implement the 3D aspect of his work, as well as layering materials in a similar way that he would have. For continuity I completed a sketch of the artist as I had on my Hirst page, but used fine liner more predominantly and used less graffic marks to reflect the overall crisp aesthetic of his work.
- On my blog I implemented what I had learned last week about creating vectors (and exporting them as jpeg files instead of organising them in blogger where the layout is more finicky) to create a title for the page which I found to work quite well. While this technique works well I found I couldn't implement a border to reflect the boxes Cornell uses in his work as I had in my sketchbook. This is something I would like to continue experimenting with.
- A friend and I went into Nuneaton Art Gallery on Saturday. It was quite busy so we couldn't get onto any workshops (which were intended for young children anyway) and the art exhibitions were pretty sparse, but I did find an interesting book on Modern Art detailing work by Louis Bourgeiose, Francis Bacon (who I studied during first year), David Hockney, Jackson Pollock and Marc Quinn etc. It also talked about the Religious Visions in Modern Art, the New Realist movement and use of photography-all of which I found relevant to my work and interesting.
Next week, I intend to:
- Produce another artist research page on Martin T Liepke, both on my blog and in my sketchbook. If research on him is sparse and I cant find enough information on him as he is a relatively new and elusive artist, I may have to consider another artist-perhaps Jenny Saville or another artist who prevalently uses oil paint.
- Condsider differences and similarities between my artists and create a plan for my artist analysis.
- Create a plan for galleries to visit
